Sport Club

Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Sports Club was established in 1960 with the objective of encouraging, promoting, and organizing sports activities for the benefit of the members of the Club. Since its inception, TIFR Sports Club has been actively involved in encouraging, promoting, and organizing indoor, and outdoor games and social & cultural activities for the benefit of its members. TIFR Sports Club carries out various activities under the following heads:

Outdoor Activity

It takes part in various outdoor sports like Cricket, Football, Hockey, Volley Ball, Kabaddi, etc. It participates in various prestigious tournaments like The Times Shield, Inter Ministry Moorjani Shield, and All India DAE Sports & Cultural Meets.

Indoor Activity

It carries out various indoor games like Chess, Carrom, Table Tennis, Badminton, Bridge, etc.

Music Library

It has a wide collection of the latest and classical Audio/video CDs/DVDs which are issued for a very nominal fee. The time of the Music Library is from 13.00 hrs to 13.30 hrs.

Book Library

It has a wide collection of books/novels/magazines which are issued for a very nominal fee. The Timing of the Book Library is from 13.00 hrs to 13.30 hrs.

Cultural Activity

Sports Club carries out various social & cultural Events like organizing popular plays, cultural Programs, treks, picnics, etc for its members and their family members.

Membership

Application for membership can be made on a prescribed enrollment form duly filled in and submitted to the Sports Club Managing Committee. On admission as a member, the Membership fee is a nominal 0.05 % of the basic pay and it is specifically understood that a member is agreeable to abide by the rules, regulations, laws, and by-laws of the Sports Club in force.
